Have the breakers checked

If it doesn’t work the first time, then there is a different problem causing this.
Identify visible problems
If the circuit breaker is not the problem, then call an HVAC technician at once. It will also help to provide them with some information over the phone. That way, they can have the necessary tools ready before responding.
What necessary information should you tell your HVAC contractor?
You have to identify visible problems with your AC unit. You should be able to identify the following visible problems:
- A water leak anywhere in the unit
- The exterior pipes have ice buildup
- Burnt wirings or weird sounds
If you observed anything among these visible problems, you should have it reported to your HVAC technician. Tell them as well what procedures you have taken so far.
Prepare your home for an AC repair
The hardest part of an air conditioning emergency is waiting for the AC to be fixed. An air conditioning emergency may occur in the middle of the night or during a hot afternoon. These bad timings can be very frustrating and uncomfortable.
You can minimize the heat by doing the following:
- Prepare some ice-cold drinks for the household
- Run your ceiling fan
- Shade the windows so the sunlight wouldn’t pass through
- Stay near a desk, box or floor fan
- Run a dehumidifier if you have one
